Folk Herbcraft & Medicine Making
Workshop Series
Join us at the apothecary for a series of workshops covering the basics of herbal medicine making with Chicago herbalist, Alex Williams.
Learn how to turn your kitchen into a vibrant and healing apothecary to support yourself and your community! Each month, we will explore herbal medicine making through various preparation methods while learning the basic framework and philosophy for working with herbs. This series is intended for beginners who know nothing about herbs or have never made an herbal preparation in their lives, or for folks who have dabbled in herbal medicine making, and would like to learn more tips and tricks for making their preparations more potent.
After each workshop, I will send an email with instructions detailing how to finish your preparation, along with a comprehensive handout outlining the medicine making process we covered. All so you can continue your learning and keep on kicking down the plant path from the comfort of your own home!
~ There are only 16 spots available per workshop ~
While you are welcome to attend only only one workshop, I highly recommend attending all four. You can purchase all workshops together for a discounted price.
Those who purchase all four workshops together will also receive a 1-year subscription at the ‘Supporting Member’ tier for the Greenspell Community and Virtual Garden, giving you access to additional self-paced courses and resources in the study of herbalism and ecology – after purchase, I’ll send you an email inviting you to sign up with a discount code for 1 year free.

There is plenty of free street parking available on Oakley. Please do not park in the building’s parking lot. This lot is reserved for building tenants only and your car may be towed if you choose to park in the lot.

Please enter through the door by the loading dock in the parking lot, not through the front door. Ideally the door will be propped open, but the door is locked for any reason, ring the intercom for unit 101 to be buzzed in. Once you’re in, you’ll walk through the loading dock area and our studio is the first door on your left. I always try to provide as much signage as possible to direct you to our space :)
-
There are several bathrooms in the common area just down the hall from our studio. These bathrooms are shared with other building tenants and are ADA accessible.
-
Greenspell studio is located on the first floor and is wheelchair accessible. All surfaces are cleaned and sanitized before each workshop. We keep workshop size to a minimum to ensure enough space for each participant. Masks are available upon request.
