Workshop Proposal Form

Proposals are considered based on calendar spots available and by category/style of event. We aim to provide a diverse set of offerings from a diverse group of teachers to facilitate our reconnection with the nonhuman world through creative, hands-on and embodied workshops.

We'll reach out via email if we need to collect more information or are ready to schedule a date. Applications are rolling & we encourage you to reapply with other proposals in the future.

What you can expect from us:

  • For most workshops, we offer a 60/40 split on revenues earned (60% to artist/teacher/facilitator, 40% to Greenspell).

  • You will be paid out for tickets sold regardless of actual attendance.

  • Greenspell’s split helps cover maintenance of our studio, designing and distributing promotional art, ticketing, hosting the workshop in our space, and having someone on-site to attend to the workshops needs and let participants in who may arrive late.

  • If this split is prohibitive to your workshop expenses, let us know and we can do our best to make something work!

Greenspell Studio Location, Details, & Arrival

  • Greenspell Studio is located at N Oakley Blvd and W Fulton St. (333 N Oakley Blvd, Unit 101, Chicago, IL 60612)

    • 5 minute walk from the corner of Western Ave and Grand Ave

    • 10 minute walk from Damen Green Line Stop

    • 6 minute walk from Western Metra Station

  • There is plenty of free street parking available on Oakley. Please do not park in the building’s parking lot. This lot is reserved for building tenants only and your car may be towed if you choose to park in the lot.

  • Please enter through the door by the loading dock in the parking lot, not through the front door. Ideally the door will be propped open, but the door is locked for any reason, ring the intercom for unit 101 to be buzzed in. Once you’re in, you’ll walk through the loading dock area and our studio is the first door on your left. I always try to provide as much signage as possible to direct you to our space :)

  • There are several bathrooms in the common area just down the hall from our studio. These bathrooms are shared with other building tenants and are ADA accessible.

  • Greenspell studio is located on the first floor and is wheelchair accessible. All surfaces are cleaned and sanitized before each workshop. We keep workshop size to a minimum to ensure enough space for each participant. Masks are available upon request.

  • Please add alex@greenspell.org to your contacts so I can contact you to pin down workshop details without getting sent to your spam folder.

    For workshop participants, we manage communication on our end. For the most up-to-date information regarding the workshop, we encourage participants to check the main sign-up page for the workshop. Participants receive a sign up confirmation email and a workshop reminder email 1-2 days prior to the date of the workshop.

Capacity

Our studio can accommodate up to 25 people for lecture style events / workshops. Workshops that have more hands on activities or require use of our kitchen space can only accommodate up to 16 participants. Workshops may be cancelled if there is low enrollment 3 days prior to the workshop date. If you would like to host more or less than the capacity listed above, please reach out, and we will see how we can accommodate.

What we provide

At each workshop, Greenspell provides:

  • 1 Greenspell employee on site

  • Tables, tablecloths (if necessary), chairs

  • Water, bubbly water, cups

  • Lighting (your choice depending on needs):

    • Warm, cozy, vibey lighting.

    • Overhead fluorescent lighting

  • Pens, pencils, rulers, scissors, tape

  • Stainless steel bowls, strainers, beakers, graduated cylinders, cutting boards, knives, funnels

    • Honestly, we have a lot of supplies, especially in the herbal medicine making, fermentation, kitchen witchery realm. Please reach out before you buy anything, as we may have it.

  • You are also welcome to utilize herbs in our apothecary at an additional cost.

  • 2-Compartment Commercial Sink

  • Dishwasher

  • Bathrooms (ADA accessible)

  • Paper towels + rags

  • Bluetooth speaker (we have a default playlist, but feel free to bring your own music to suit your vibe!)

  • Name tags (if requested)

Reach out if you have questions about supplies. You are welcome to provide all of your own supplies as well.

Bring Stuff to Sell!

You are welcome to bring any products of your own to sell at the workshop. You keep 100% of all revenue sold at your workshop. If you’d like to leave additional products behind on consignment for others to shop at future workshops, you are more than welcome to. We offer a 60/40 consignment split (60% to maker, 40% to Greenspell).

COVID / General Safety Precautions

We have the following COVID safety precautions in place:

  • HEPA air purifier

  • Masks offered at no cost

  • Surfaces sanitized & hand sanitizer available.

  • First Aid Kit

You are welcome to require masks at your workshop.
